Service Description

In only 10 weeks for 1 hour per week, beginner level students will complete a variety of projects using hand stitching and machine stitching. Sewing machines are welcome but are not required. Materials are provided for the 1st four sessions. If you have been wanting to learn to sew for fun or for profit this 10 week class is for you! Men and women can make amazing gifts, accessories, and apparel for themselves or to give as gifts just in time for the holiday. We have packed this class with a ton of sewing projects that everyone can use or give to someone else to use! I promise to be with you every step of the way! No sewing machine at home? No sewing experience? Want a refresher? Learned in high school but want to start over? Just wanna learn to sew for fun? Wish you could sew things to sell? YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AND THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME! Let us share our love of the art of sewing, one stitch at a time, for 10 weeks! Learn to Sew- Wednesdays- 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Classes meet weekly 2 hrs Oct 11th thru Dec 20th Location: Bethany Union 1750 W 103rd st Small group: Class max 6 FREE FABRIC Included for all projects (except week 6 and 7) Lessons Include: Hand Sewing Oct 11 Pin cushion, needle book Oct 18th zipper pouch, decorator pillow Machine Sewing Oct 25th Pillow, zipper pouch , pin cushion Nov 1 placemat, coaster, tote bag Nov 8 strip placemat, patchwork throw Apparel Nov 15th drawstring lounge or pajama pant, drawstring aline or maxi skirt Nov 29th robe, pull over shirt Accessories Dec 6th tote bag with lining Dec 13th apron, pot holders Dec 20th shrug, infinity scarf, fleece hat, scarf After taking our class you will: Sew a variety of projects with only a needle and thread Have projects to sew over and over even if you don’t have a sewing machine Have 2 hand stitches for mending and repairing your store bought garments Know how to cut, measure, mark, and pin fabric Know the common differences between textiles and how to select fabrics for projects Know how to use sewing tools and supples Have a beginning sewing kit and keepsake sewing kit Read and use a commercial sewing pattern Thread and operate a home level sewing machine Have an arsenal of projects for kids and adults List of sewing terms Diagram of sewing machine and terms List of sewing safety rules **Bonus: Resources for purchasing fabrics online and locally 1 month free access to sewing studio for project help (expires Jan 31, 2024)
